The Makita 14-Inch 15 Amp Abrasive Cutoff Saw sports a D-shape handle for easy gripping. Safety features include a lock-off button to prevents accidental starting and a spark diversion guard. The guide plate adjusts 45 degrees right and left with three locations for various sizes of materials. The quick release vise ensures secure stock retention and fast repeated cut-offs. The socket wrench stores on the base for convenience. An adjustable depth stop provides precise, repeatable cutting depth. The shaft lock is designed for easy wheel changes. This cutoff saw comes with a 1-year limited warranty.

First the chop saw -- Good: --Strong motor with glass-filled housing --Good square alignment --Simple design --Quick-sliding vise --Easy to carry Mediocre: --Handle is comfortable only if the machine is on low bench or ground. --Pressed steel (not cast) vise and fence could be more rigid --Very thin stamped base didn't even survive shipping without edge damage, and had to be whacked back into shape with a mallet. This DOES make the machine lighter and easier to carry than it would be if the base were made of cast iron. Fortunately the internal frame to which the saw arm and vise are mounted is made of considerably stouter stuff. The angle grinder included with this kit is OK, and quieter than an older Bosch model I've used for years. It's a bit less solidly made, as you would expect. The safety-lockout paddle switch is easy to use. Both tools are made in China.
