The unit features both ionization and photoelectric sensors for detecting both smoke and flame. A loud 85-decibel alarm sounds when smoke is detected. If the alarm sounds during smoky cooking accidents, a hush button lets you turn off the alarm. The unit mounts easily thanks to an adjustable mounting bracket. Yes it is a battery model - easy to install - nicely made - easy to dis mount to change the battery. Works very well and no false alarms. Nice buy! These dual sensor alarms used to be very expensive.
