The Porter-Cable 8924 universal charger recharges all Porter-Cable slide pack batteries and features a complex diagnostic system to help maintain your high performance batteries. You just slide the battery in; the system then automatically checks the battery pack for proper alignment, and switches it into "Fast Charge" mode unless the battery needs maintenance. A handy indicator light flashes to let you know that the battery is charging. Fast charging is done in about an hour, at which time the "Fast Charge" indicator light glows continually, telling you that the battery pack is fully charged and that the charger is now in "Maintenance Charge" mode. Your purchase is covered by Porter-Cable's limited one-year warranty.

The charger is the weak link in the PC battery powered tools chain. The orginal charger gave out in six months and I purchased this one to replace it. So far, so good, no problems. I sent the orginal back to PC but have yet to hear from them about repairing it. I am not a heavy user but like to leave the charger plugged in on my bench, that doesn't seem to be a good idea.
