Finally, a cordless spiral saw (adaptable to grinder/cutoff tool)! I've been looking for this for months -- Lowes had it last time I was there and I picked it up for about the same price ($139) it sells for from RotoZip.com. There seem to be a lot of model numbers out there for the 18V cordless, and I'm not sure of the differences yet. I have used the tool for two simple drywall cutouts. It performed as well as any corded version I've used, but this obviously isn't yet a test of battery life or cutting torque for thick hardwood... Anyway, it worked great. I like the quick-release depth-guide and handle, integrated collet wrench storage slot, and integrated collet/bit storage trays in the removable handle and in the tool's main body. Bosch bits are well-reviewed in other applications, and they should continue to do a good job making bits for RotoZip -- so I'm hopeful this will be a good purchase. Bosch makes (or owns) RotoZip, and it's their battery and charger with the RZ18V. I bought it with the idea of transitioning from my investment in Makita 18V hammer drill/driver and 12V impact drivers to a Bosch 18V kit. Their cordless drills and all types of planers and jig saws are highly rated, and I really wanted a cordless rotary cutting/abrasive tool. Turns out, Makita is now making a cordless grinder... Well, I can do finer work of various kinds with the high-RPM Zip, AND use the grinder adapter ($59.00 at Lowes), using the RotoZip. Makita makes a good grinder, though... probably better for heavy-duty grinding jobs.
